Biography

Daniel Lim was the founding partner of G Link Express Logistics Pte Ltd and has gone on to become the Vice President, South East Asia, of Jacobson Global Logistics (S) Pte Ltd.

Daniel joined a freight-forwarding arm of a renowned shipping company, fresh from National Service, as a marketing officer in 1990. Being without experience, he learned the trade from his co-workers and seniors in the firm. Through sheer hard work, perseverance, and a humble willingness to learn the ropes, he quickly rose through the ranks to a managerial position.

In 1994, Daniel resigned and set up his own company, G Link Express Logistics Pte Ltd. G Link focused on the transpacific trade and established its name with significant volume record with the carriers. By 1997, Daniel and his partners had expanded the business into the region with the first overseas office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The company grew from a mere 5-man team to a mid-sized Pan Asia logistics firm, with a total of 20 offices in 10 countries within the region, while headquartered in Singapore.

Over the years, G Link achieved many milestones and remarkable accolades. In 2003, a US-based company acquired G Link. However, the acquisition was unsuccessful and did not work out for G Link. Jacobson Companies, a US-based freight and logistics group, subsequently acquired G Link while retaining all its operations in Asia.

Coming from a humble family background, Daniel has an approachable and engaging management style. He believes in improving proficiency and productivity, and thus, encourages training and skills upgrading for his co-workers.

Daniel is confident of his co-workers and attributes the firm’s success to them.
