Topic Synopsis
A great lever for raising the brand value for any company is its realization and utilization of the constantly-changing and boundary-pushing technology that they can take advantage of. For technology, one can read innovation as well since technology creates the platform and allow innovation to flourish in ways unimaginable for corporations to compete successfully. In Mr Low’s presentation, he will explain the technology changes in the business landscape and how these will, not may, impact the competitiveness of SMEs. More importantly, he will explain how SMEs can and ought to leverage on these technology advantages to offer a more compelling and competitive products and services to their customers.
Biography
Mr Low Aik Lim is the Managing Director of Xcellink Pte Ltd since August 2011. Established in 1993, Xcellink is a Singapore company that specializes in IT and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) for many leading multi-national corporations as well as leading Singapore corporations. Xcellink employs about 900 people in its current markets of operations – Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines. Xcellink is also in the business of providing Talent Capital to its blue-chip customers. An early NICF adopter in the infocomm sector, Xcellink has seen double-digit growth over the last three years, delivering over S$100 million of services in the last five years.
Prior to joining Xcellink, Aik Lim was the Deputy Director in the Industry Development Group in the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) where he led the Enterprise Development team that drives initiatives and programmes to strengthen partnerships with infocomm MNCs, grow the pool of local infocomm enterprises and deliver strategic programmes that will strengthen the capabilities of the industry. Aik Lim was instrumental in this capacity to assist the growth of infocomm companies in their growth lifecycle, and work out the relevant assistance schemes and programmes to help these infocomm enterprises. These range from clustering of companies with complementary capabilities/solutions/products, to partnership with more established infocomm MNCs with wider market outreach in the region to help them regionalize. Other activities include bringing our local infocomm companies to overseas mission trips and trade shows, both here in Singapore as well as overseas. In deepening strategic relationships with the infocomm MNCs, he looks at delivering programmes that are mutually beneficial to the MNCs and the larger local IT community. These include managing strategic programmes such as Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Overseas Development Programme (ODP) and the infocomm Local Industry Upgrading Programme (iLIUP).
Aik Lim has an Executive MBA from the National University of Singapore. He is also active in the larger infocomm community where he serves as an Exco Member of the Singapore Enterprise Chapter of the Singapore Infocomm Technolgy Federation (SiTF).
