Biography
Chen Huifen started her career as a content producer for AsiaOne.com during the early days of the Internet boom. She has worked on the Straits Times Interactive, The Electric New Paper, BT Online and other web portals.
In a reversal of the trend at that time, She then went from digital to print journalism, starting initially as a technology reporter with The Business Times. After a few years, she hit a quarter-life crisis and left journalism to teach in rural Japan, where she created the curriculum for English teaching and international cultural understanding at three schools.
Missing the buzz in the newsroom, Huifen returned to The Business Times in 2004 as a general news reporter. She has written on a wide variety of topics, such as economics, government policy, healthcare, biomedical sciences, entrepreneurship and succession planning. Between 2007 and 2008, Huifen was in charge of the weekly Young Investors Forum in The Business Times. Currently, she oversees the SME INC section in the newspaper and is the editor of The SME Magazine.
Before she had kids, Huifen can be found trekking in her free time. Now she enjoys going on road trips to the region.
