Biography
Lee Yi Shyan is a Singaporean Member of Parliament who represents East Coast GRC. He is also currently the Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Manpower.
Yi Shyan began his working career in 1987 in Systems & Organization (SCO), MINDEF as a systems engineer. In his five years in MINDEF, he participated in a number of projects related to systems and process improvements across departments.
In 1991, Yi Shyan joined the Economic Development Board. He began with the Chemical Group, Industry Development Division. The group’s priority then was to realise the amalgamation of Jurong (chemical) Island and persuade petrochemical majors to invest in the island. Between 1993 to 1997, he was posted to Washington DC and Chicago (USA) as regional representative to attract American multinationals to invest in Singapore.
